Trials of mothers day

So its mothers day .... A lovely day where children of all ages get the opportunity to say thank you to their mums for all they have done for them.
If you're looking for a place where mums and their good works are the focus of the day then look no further then your local LDS church where services and lessons are dedicated to saying thank you mothers throughout the world and also the scriptures.  If the talks given by the primary children aren't enough to pull on your heart strings then the young women's musical item is bound to bring a tear to your eye!! and then of course there is the time when gifts are given to all the mummys in the church. it's beautiful and lovely and I am in no way against the idea or the day at all, however, I often wonder how many people sit feleing hurt, pain, sorrow, misery or just down right uncomfortable during the proceedings and I wonder how many people spare a thought or a kind word for them on a day which is probably very difficult for them.
The Mormon church is well known for being a big family orinentated church, a place which actively encourages big families and, in my opinion, almost expects every married women to start popping out children as soon as the ring is on her finger. This is all well and good for those families who are able to have children but what about those who unfortunatly can not. How painful days like today must be for the. Particularly in a church where being married and childless is almost frowned upon.
Equally another common myth within the church is if you're a mother and a mormon you are obviously going to be perfect and have the perfect life!!!!! this isnt true!!!! I know from personal experience that having a mormon mum is no garauntee!! On mothers day how many people think of those children, young and old, who's mothers have walked in and out of their lives so often that their relationship with them is non existent.  Doesn't it almost seem a shame sometimes that those who so desperately want children are unable to have them and yet some of those blessed with the joy of children seem to disregard them like yesterdays newspaper!!
While mothers day is a wonderful day and brings a great opportunity to be thankful I do wonder if as a church we sometimes fall short of being kind and loving and showing understanding to those who find days like today difficult.
On a brighter note I hope all the lovely mummys out there have a wonderful day and are spoilt rotten!!!!
SMILE JESUS LOVES YOU!!!!
